Clothes Horse Number Fourteen

What I wore. And I are lots of cookies.
I have been making some watercolors of what I wore lately. This one shows me wearing an orange sweater that reminds me of the colors of alphabet soup. I quite like soup and sweaters, so that is perfect for me. I also ate an absurd amount of cookies, too. You can see them flying from my hands in this illustration, too! I have on my Woodland Bunny Wood Pin, too.

Bunny Pin that I made.
I love how this bunny looks on my veggie soup sweater!

What I wore and I danced on a cloud.
I also wore this outfit this week, too. This one has my Sleeping Bunny Wood Pin on my grey sweater with a cowl neck. I love this one cos It is just so cozy! I love wearing it with different brooches that I make! With this sweater I am wearing one of my favorite skirts - it is navy and red plaid from Built By Wendy. I paired it with teal tights that Raoul gave me as a gift a few years ago.

Wearing my Sleeping Bunny Pin and a cozy grey sweater. It is cold today!
It was pretty cold the day I wore these, but I was super warm!

Sketchbook Sunday - What Nilla Would Wear

Clothes Horse for 10.21.11
Do you ever dream about dressing your pets? Sometimes I do, and I know you can dress your pets, but I really don't think mine would allow for that. If I could dress Nilla, I always imagined her in a great red track suit like I drew right here. I think she would really look cute in this!

Clothes Horse Number Thirteen

Clothes Horse 10.15.12
Monday was a rainy day, so I wore my Keep rain boots, which I really love because they are really warm and keep my socks and feet really dry when it is puddly outside. Then I had on a cute printed handmade skirt I got in Los Angeles at the Renegade Craft Fair. It was at a booth that had lots of sewing patterns and promoted sewing classes in LA. I love it! I also had on a gray top that tied at the neck line, and I quite like that added touch. I also wore my beloved Prairie Underground hoodie, perfect for rainy days cos I can put the hood up!

Clothes Horse Number Eleven

Here are some of my drawings of What I Wore lately...

Clothes Horse for June 16, 2011
This is me wearing my top from Locher's with some olive green pants I found when we were in Shanghai. The pants are from a shop called Fairy Fair, which I loved, but I can't seem to find a link for it online.

Clothes Horse for July 11, 2011
Here I am in a top Mom helped me sew (I began it, she finished it) from a Built By Wendy sewing pattern. I paired it with a black skirt that seems to collect every single Nilla hair that is floating around the house!

What's Your Project? Sewing a New Top

My weekend project was something i have had on my to do list for a while. I sewed a new top! My mom is the best seamstress I know. She helped make this top last July, so I gave it a go this past weekend.
TOP 6857
I used this pattern for my top. I also designed the fabric and had it printed through Spoonflower.

Here is a detail of the fabric. it is teeny tiny macarons i drew and made into a repeat pattern special for my fabric. The fabric is cotton knit, so it is a nice fabric for this pattern. I also love this shape top!

I am so proud I finally made a cute shirt! Raoul took these pictures of my process. It was a fairly easy pattern to follow, but since Mom helped me make it before, I just remembered what she did when she made it. The one thing I did differently was sewing the yoke interior by hand. The directions tell you to topstitch on the front yoke and catch the interior (lining) yoke with that. I just simply whip stitched the lining by hand cos I did not think I could top stitch so neatly. I like it better the way I made mine. I also hemmed the bottom and sleeves by hand, too. I am not sure, but my machine might be able to do a hem stitch, but I quite like sewing by hand, so that is what I did.

Macaron fabric of my own design.

My new top made from my macaron Spoonflower fabric!
If you would like to make a top with this fabric, or any other project, you can order some through my Spoonflower fabric designs right here. Happy sewing!

Clothes Horse Number Nine

Clothes Horse for June 11, 2011
This is my outfit from last Saturday. I love this little striped dress so much. I got it about 15 years ago, I think, at a Salvation Army in my home state of Pennsylvania. I love pairing it with bright colored tights. I also love the stripes and the simple shape if this dress. It is like a big t-shirt.

Here is a picture of me in the said outfit at the craft show. Check it out!

Clothes Horse Number Eight

Clothes Horse for June 3, 2011
What I wore today was a cute top that I love that has a floral silhouette pattern and also has bunnies and squirrels and birds. I love it for the "woodland folk" pattern and color. Look - I even used the actual pattern on my drawing! I paired it with my great gray twill pants that I love love love. I wear these all the time because I love Built By Wendy and these are pants that actually fit - cos I am tiny. Thanks, Wendy! I also wore my saddle shoe tennis shoes. They are really cool cos they have navy blue in the middle and the rest of the shoe is candy striped! My hair was a little crazy today because of an early morning meeting for work, so I got ready in a rush. I drew a spoon in mu hand cos I have been thinking about Amelie lately. And I ate some yogurt.

Clothes Horse Number Seven

Clothes Horse for May 27, 2011
Here is my outfit from Friday. We had a very early meeting at my "real job" so I was sleepy the whole day. It was not a problem because I came home and took a long nap and we have a three day weekend! Hooray!

Clothes Horse Number Six

clothes horse for 05.26.11
Here is what I wore yesterday. I got the vintage dress from Avalon in Pittsburgh - anyone remember that? I do not think it is even called Avalon anymore, but it was thee cool store for Doc Martens, Manic Panic, and army clothing when I was in high school and college. It now has evolved into a different place that is not so familiar to me now. Anyway, the dress was longer, but the previous owner cut the length off, so now it is not hemmed at all. My fear is that the center front seam on the bottom will soon unravel! I need to get hemming...

My vintage dress with the floral pattern.
And this is a picture of my dress so you can see the colors and how it looks in real life compared to my little illustration.

Clothes Horse Number Five

Clothes Horse for May 5, 2011
Today I wore a brown sweater that I got in Philadelphia at a thrift. I think it is from a school uniform because it has "Transfiguration" embroidered on the left side. I wore it with a black skirt that has a tie at the waist, and a cute top with a quail bird on it. As you may know, I really like quails. I also had on my forest green knee high socks, and my favorite panda shoes.

Clothes Horse: Mod Monday

My friend Jean and I decided to have a theme day for what we wore on Monday. Today's theme is Mod Monday. Jean writes Don't Mix the Colors blog, and is one snappy dresser! Here is what I wore yesterday.

Mod Monday outfit.
My dress is from the flea market in Paris, my bright pink tights are from Macy's, my shoes are Fluevog Fellowship Kathy.

My shoes.
I really love the print on this dress, and it is a fabulous polyester material. I mean, who does not love polyester? I love the navy color with my pink tights, too.

Bunny Charm.
Here is a close up of my bunny charm. It is by artist Sarah McNeil. I really like her work, and I know it is not totally mod, but I was going for size and shape, and I really like bunnies, so there.

Butterfly ring.
Lastly, here is my butterfly ring. Raoul gave me this ring when we visited Pittsburgh once. I think it came from a shop called Sugar. It is vintage bakelite. I wear this all the time.

So, you might ask where my pictures were taken - well, last night we went to see the Decemberists last night in Atlanta. It was a great show and we could have a seat and watch everything from our balcony seats! Here is some of the show. It was really good!

Thank You for Voting

Thank you for voting!
Thank you EVERYONE for voting on my Fluevog shoe ad. I know it was a close race, and I came in second place by a very tiny margin. I am thankful to be a finalist in this contest, and I am also thankful for all my family and friends and fans who voted, tweeted, and shared on Facebook! I am amazed at the response to this contest. I am truly lucky to have you all as friends helping me out. You are all super! Thank you.

Well, after all this hard work over this contest, staying up late and trying to get the word out, I am very tired! I told Raoul it feels like pulling an all-nighter in college, and I have circles under my eyes to prove it. I think I need some retail therapy. I know, how about a nice new pair of shoes?

Fluevog Love!

Now there are a few brands I am loyal to, and I don't usually like to be an advert, but I am a HUGE fan of John Fluevog shoes. I have been for a while, but it took me until 1999 to get my first pair. At least I think it was 1999 or so. My very first Fluevogs were the Familevog!

Oreo and my shoes.
The FAMILEVOG was made for the Danielson Famile, a family of musicians that dress as nurses and doctors to promote the healing power of their soulful music. The gold stitching! The handbag heart! What is not to love about these? I absolutely love them, and so does our bun, Oreo.

in clover.
I love these Anastasia Mary Janes. I had to have these when I saw the embroidered birds on them. They had them in a red and blue colorway, but I thought black was the way to go with these. They are great to wear with colored knee highs, skirts, or culottes!

my new mary janes!!

My shoes.
I love Fluevog Mary Janes! They go great with all my dresses and skirts.

Doily carpet and my shoes!
And here are my Erika Fellowship shoes. These are sort of saddle shoe-ish to me. This photo was taken at Le Meridian hotel in Xiamen, China last year. I love the doily pattern on this carpet - and my Fellowship shoes! I wore them the whole time while in China.

my shoes
And here is my very well-worn pair of Angies. Oh, Angie. These have been all over the place! They have seen better days! I love these shoes cos they do not have laces and can easily be slipped off on a flight or in the movies.

Fluevog Collection 5649
This is the whole glorious herd together for a family portrait! Check out those boots! They are POWDER BLUE!

Fluevog Collection 0231
Nilla is even a fan of the 'vogs!

John Fluevog has a contest to see would get to design their next print ad...I am one of the four finalists! YOU can help me win this contest by casting a vote for my design HERE! It's the cute one with the girl walking her dog! There's only a few days left for the contest, so be sure to vote daily. THANK YOU!

Sketchbook Project - Panda Sweater Week

What I Wore 11.24.10 - 5
I will tell you about another favorite sweater of mine - my panda sweater! I got it back in 2002, winter, after I first moved to Athens.

What I Wore 11.24.10 - 3
It was in the window of Artichoke in Normaltown (remember that shop anyone?) and I had to turn around to go back and check it out.

What I Wore 11.24.10 - 4
Lucky me, it was just my size! My panda sweater also goes well with my panda shoes!

What I Wore 11.24.10 - 2

Snow! Yay!
This was the perfect sweater to go outside late last night and check out the snow!
