Making Cupcakes
This weekend I finished my plush softie cupcakes that I have been working on. I am making them for our table at the Indie Craft Experience on June 11 and 12.
Here is one without the little cherry! Raoul helped me by taking these pictures.
And here is the finished cuppy!
This is my bakery! I hope you like cupcakes!

Cloud Drawings - Bunny and Fawn
Last week we were lucky enough to see these clouds in the parking lot of our work. I had my camera, so I snapped pictures of these clouds before they changed. Clouds can change very quickly!
What do you see?
I saw a bunny and a carrot. This bunny reminds me of our bunny Jumbles. He is just like a cloud and his fur is so soft. He also enjoys a carrot every now and then!
What do you see?
We saw a fawn taking a nap in the forest. You can even see the forest around her in the clouds. She is in the perfect hiding place. Raoul said he saw it, too.

Buttons for Sci-Fi Caper
I made some buttons for a really cool band called Sci-Fi Caper. They live in California and made a demo available for download on their Bandcamp page. Raoul and I really like the music so far, so check them out.
I really like how their buttons came out. I love the colors and the outer space theme they requested. Emelia from Sci-Fi Caper said she liked the pink one with the UFO driver on it best cos of the colors. That one is my favorite, too!

Clothes Horse Number Six
Here is what I wore yesterday. I got the vintage dress from Avalon in Pittsburgh - anyone remember that? I do not think it is even called Avalon anymore, but it was thee cool store for Doc Martens, Manic Panic, and army clothing when I was in high school and college. It now has evolved into a different place that is not so familiar to me now. Anyway, the dress was longer, but the previous owner cut the length off, so now it is not hemmed at all. My fear is that the center front seam on the bottom will soon unravel! I need to get hemming...
And this is a picture of my dress so you can see the colors and how it looks in real life compared to my little illustration.

Zines Ready
I made some zines in time for Fluke back in April. Yay! I was so happy to get these printed and ready for our table. I think they turned out really well.
I created a collection of some of my favorite Tofu Baby comics from Flagpole.
Here is Dork Lifestyle 2 and 3. These are my comics from Fierce and Nerdy, my friend Ernessa runs. I really like seeing these comics in glorious mini comic form.
You can get these new zines on my personal website or Shoppe Sugar Cookie on Etsy!

Whatever It Takes
Our friend Ryan helps run a local organization here in Athens called Whatever it Takes. Whatever It Takes is a local program that seeks to "institute family and neighborhood centered initiatives" in order to "ensure that all children in Athens are healthy, safe, engaged, successful, and graduate from a post-secondary education" by "creating a culture of success with the necessary support to achieve these goals."
I was honored to do my little part for the cause by making spot illustrations that Ryan will use in their newsletters and flyers, like the one shown above! For more information about Whatever It Takes, please check out (and please LIKE) their Facebook page here or their official website here. Thanks, Ryan!

Dentist Day
Each year I visit my dentist. This was not always so, but I started going regularly about six years ago. Do you like visiting the dentist?
I am happy to report - I have NO CAVITIES! I never have! And those people who know me very well are surprised to hear this, as I really like sweets! I used to eat so many sweets in my college days, too. I have toned it down quite a bit since then, and now I like dark chocolate.
Every five years they like to take x-rays of your teeth. This is neat to see, but sometimes uncomfortable when you hold the frames used to help the x-ray aim on your teeth. It is neat to look at the x-rays of your teeth when the dentist shows them to you.
When I was little the tooth fairy visited me. I often wondered where she was when I had all four wisdom teeth removed!
Super! I get a gold crown today for doing so good at my dentist appointment today. They told me everything looks good! I told them I would celebrate by eating some sweets. They said that was okay, as long as I remembered to brush afterwards!

Illustration Friday - Safari
This week's word on Illustration Friday is safari. I enjoy drawing animals, so I made a panther, lion, and tiger - the BIG CATS! As you know, I love cats! I also love looking at this website called Zoo Borns. Zoo Borns shows so many amazing animals, it os sort of like being on a safari, or else a really nice trip to the zoo. I especially love the baby animal pictures. They are so cute, I even tear up a little looking at some of them.

Last Saturday
Last Saturday we went to see some bands downtown. We had so much fun seeing some great music and friends. Above is a picture of the guitar that Karl Blau played, which he said belonged to Bret from one of my all-time favorite bands, Beat Happening.
Our friends have a really fab band called Gold-Bears. They played first, and are currently on tour. Check them out if you are on the east coast cos they are going to NYC Popfest very soon!
Karl Blau played after local singer/punk rocker, Theo! I did not get a picture of Theo (sorry, Theo). Karl played and was really excited to be in Athens. I saw Karl drum for the Microphones at Yo-Yo-a-Go-Go in 1999 and I saw him perform with D+ when I was in college. It was nice to see him here in Athens finally!
Last to go on stage that night was local fav Madeline and the White Flag Band. Each time I see her she gets better and better! She is really good, and has a new album out in June. So check it out! Your ears will be happy!

Wedding Buttons, I Mean, Wedding Bells!
Back in November our friend Erin had her wedding. Erin married John, and here is their guest table when you entered the wedding. Notice all the thoughtful wedding favors - cds of music chosen by the happy couple, sparklers to send them off on their honeymoon (with matching match boxes), and some of my buttons from Shoppe Sugar Cookie!
Erin and John chose their favorite buttons from all of my collection. Here is a cute little bowl that fits them perfectly. The guests took buttons as they entered the reception. Oh and why do these photos look so good? They were taken by local photographer Jason Thrasher!
Some of the guys pinned my buttons on their ties! It was fun to see everyone dancing around with my buttons on!
And they had a photobooth at their wedding, need I say more? We had so much fun I did not want to leave the photobooth, but there was a line outside of it, though. Here I am with Raoul trying to get a good pose for the camera.
And here is the now married couple! Congrats!

Clothes Horse Number Five
Today I wore a brown sweater that I got in Philadelphia at a thrift. I think it is from a school uniform because it has "Transfiguration" embroidered on the left side. I wore it with a black skirt that has a tie at the waist, and a cute top with a quail bird on it. As you may know, I really like quails. I also had on my forest green knee high socks, and my favorite panda shoes.

Clothes Horse: Mod Monday
My friend Jean and I decided to have a theme day for what we wore on Monday. Today's theme is Mod Monday. Jean writes Don't Mix the Colors blog, and is one snappy dresser! Here is what I wore yesterday.
My dress is from the flea market in Paris, my bright pink tights are from Macy's, my shoes are Fluevog Fellowship Kathy.
I really love the print on this dress, and it is a fabulous polyester material. I mean, who does not love polyester? I love the navy color with my pink tights, too.
Here is a close up of my bunny charm. It is by artist Sarah McNeil. I really like her work, and I know it is not totally mod, but I was going for size and shape, and I really like bunnies, so there.
Lastly, here is my butterfly ring. Raoul gave me this ring when we visited Pittsburgh once. I think it came from a shop called Sugar. It is vintage bakelite. I wear this all the time.
So, you might ask where my pictures were taken - well, last night we went to see the Decemberists last night in Atlanta. It was a great show and we could have a seat and watch everything from our balcony seats! Here is some of the show. It was really good!
