A Ride on the Pittsburgh Incline

Raoul and I like being tourists in Pittsburgh! Cristina took us to the incline after a nice ride on the T. The T is Pittsburgh's cable car transit. The neighborhood my brother and his wife live in is very close to the T stop, so we rode it to Station Square.

Then we went up the hill to Mount Washington.

Then we stopped to have some cool drinks at a cafe.


Then we went back down the incline. What a great view!

Let's Go Sugar Café

During our visit to Pennsylvania, my brother Greg and his wife Cristina took us to a cute café that is just up the street from their house. It is called Sugar Café, and it is really sweet!






They had all flavors of cupcakes, including a s'mores cuppy! It really has a nice toasted marshmallow top, doesn't it?












Raoul and I tried this light lemon poundcake. It was especially yummy!


And I also had a cream puff. It was very good, too. I look forward to going back to Sugar! Do you have a favorite bakery in your neighborhood?

Trip to Pennsylvania

Last week we went to visit my family in Pennsylvania for the Fourth of July. Raoul and I had fun driving up from Georgia. It takes 12 hours, but we have fun on the long ride. We always pass the giant peach in Gaffney, South Carolina. It looks really neat over the trees like this!


Driving into South Carolina, there are so many signs for farms. We stopped at Abbott Farms and got some snacks and drinks. They had so many peaches, too. We like roadside farm markets.






I love waffles! We always pass Mr. Waffle, but we have yet to stop. I always look at this sign.


We stopped off for lunch in North Carolina. We saw Pop Pop's, but it was totally closed. We liked the sign, though, it looks like it probably was a pretty neat ice cream stand.






There was lots of traffic through Virginia and West Virginia, and mostly no power going through West Virginia due to storms the night before. I had never seen that before - no gas stations were open, no power on the traffic lights, too. It was crazy! We finally were able to gas up after we crossed through Pennsylvania. Anyways, we arrived very late at my brother Greg's house, but he and his wife Cristina took us to Tom's Diner. It was great to have a post midnight snack!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

Blythe Day

Here is an old photo of my very first Blythe doll. This is Hollywood Blythe, but I named her Noelle. I love her hair, and here she is posing with her pink eyes on top of a vintage trinket box that my friends gave to me. So cute. I love her outfit, too. She is wearing blue overalls that my pen pal in Seattle mailed to me. I love this outfit on her - I like how the colors look with her eyes.

Strawberry Nilla

Did I ever tell you that Nilla loves strawberries? She does. Here she is licking the top when I was packing my lunch for the day.


Nilla has liked strawberries ever since she was little. I found this out when I picked a bucket of strawberries and the local farm and when I set them down to go do something else, I forgot about them. Well, Nilla found them, was picking the berries by the stems out of the bucket, and then licking them with her rough tongue. So silly!


We always joke that Nilla is a gourmet cat!

We Buy DIY - Cuyler Hovey-King Jewelry

I have loved Cuyler Hovey-King's jewelry for a long time now. The first piece I ever owned of her was given to me as a gift from Raoul - it was the Tiny Chair necklace that he bought at ICE Atlanta many years ago. I think it was meant to be a Christmas present, but he gave it to me that day! I love it so much!


We visited Cuyler's table at ICE Atlanta each year ever since. So I have been collecting her jewelry for some time, and I truly love each piece. I am a huge fan of miniatures (that sounds funny to say!), so her work is no exception. I also love sterling silver, I just feel like it is more my "thing" than gold.




Cuyler works in metals, but also uses vintage jewelry in her designs, too.


And adorable vintage props at her table!


So, what jewelry do I have in my own collection? Well, like I said, I have the little chair charm, and I get compliments on it when I wear it! I wear this one all the time.


Usually I do not wear bracelets, but this one is an exception, and maybe after wearing this I will wear more of them. I am at the computer at work, so they sometimes can get in the way, but I wear this one, and it is no problem at all. I love this bunny, even though it is a bit strange for it to not have a face! This is made from a vintage candy mold.


Here is my bunny ring, too. Yes, another bunny! You know I can't get enough...
