Chatty Crafty in Tennessee

Chatty Crafty 0021
Last weekend was Chatty Crafty, the indie craft show in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Raoul and I decided to make it a day trip, so we packed some snacks in the car and away we went.

Chatty Crafty 0020
Chatty Crafty was a really good event, there were lots of really talented artists there. We had fun looking at everything, and there were these cool vending machines with all sorts of handmade goodies inside!

We came home with some new goodies...

Chattanooga.
Chattanooga has sculptures and art around the town. It was everywhere you looked. This was walking near the aquarium and towards the river.

Leo Handmade.

Leo Handmade DIY shop.
We went to the other side of the river to check out the indie shop Leo Handmade. They had the best zine collection I have seen in a while!

My zines made it to the Dolla Zines bin in Leo!
AND - look! My zines were on top of the Dolla Bin when we walked to the back of the shop! No joke, Where's a Cookie was right there. Plus, I found some more of my mini comics there, too. I know these were from "back in the day" cos one of my zines had rubber stamps stamped inside, and I have not made it that way in years. WOAH!

Dancing steps!
We liked the dance how to's all over town.

Hello There.

Carousel 0057_2
Before we left we got to ride on the carousel! It is a really pretty carousel. I love all the animals and everything!

Easter Basket Oreo

My drawing of Oreo in her Easter basket.
Here is a little drawing I made of our bunny Oreo. It is from Easter and I was trying to get her to sit in her Easter basket. This is one of my favorite pictures of Oreo, so I made it into a little drawing. I think it really captures her perfectly.

Oreo our Easter bunny!
This is the photo I looked at for my drawing. See how cute she is?

Etsy Birthday!

June 21, 2005 is my Etsy shop's birthday!
Today is my Etsy Shoppe Sugar Cookie birthday! I started Sugar Cookie on this day in 2005, and I think that might even be the year Etsy began.

Front
So I had some new business cards made. My Dad helped in printing these (thanks, Dad!) beautiful new cards. These are the cards I will place in my out going Etsy orders. This is the front illustration for my business card. Oh look, I see Nilla, Oreo and Jumbles on there!

Back
And this shows the back of the business card. I can now write who the order is going to with a little message as well. I really like these new cards and I have already started using them. They work like a charm!

My new business cards to write on and place in my Etsy orders.

What's Your Project? Sewing a New Top

My weekend project was something i have had on my to do list for a while. I sewed a new top! My mom is the best seamstress I know. She helped make this top last July, so I gave it a go this past weekend.
TOP 6857
I used this pattern for my top. I also designed the fabric and had it printed through Spoonflower.

TOP 6861

TOP 6859
Here is a detail of the fabric. it is teeny tiny macarons i drew and made into a repeat pattern special for my fabric. The fabric is cotton knit, so it is a nice fabric for this pattern. I also love this shape top!

TOP 6836

TOP 6837
I am so proud I finally made a cute shirt! Raoul took these pictures of my process. It was a fairly easy pattern to follow, but since Mom helped me make it before, I just remembered what she did when she made it. The one thing I did differently was sewing the yoke interior by hand. The directions tell you to topstitch on the front yoke and catch the interior (lining) yoke with that. I just simply whip stitched the lining by hand cos I did not think I could top stitch so neatly. I like it better the way I made mine. I also hemmed the bottom and sleeves by hand, too. I am not sure, but my machine might be able to do a hem stitch, but I quite like sewing by hand, so that is what I did.

Macaron fabric of my own design.

My new top made from my macaron Spoonflower fabric!
If you would like to make a top with this fabric, or any other project, you can order some through my Spoonflower fabric designs right here. Happy sewing!

Happy Dad's Day

Mom and Dad helped us paint the hallway and make a picture rail.
Happy Father's Day to my Dad! He is the best "duddee" anyone could ask for! Dad is always there to lend a helping hand and make my project ideas happen. He is the greatest at using power tools, installing ceiling fans, and cooking! I mean, just look at this picture ledge we made last time they were in town! Thank you Dad for all you do! We love and miss you!

Shout Out to Blythecon 2011

Isobel Creampuff models her frog hat.
I hope all the people attending Blythecon 2011 have a great time this weekend! We had a great time at Blythecon a few years ago, that I am a little sad to miss this one. It looks like it is going to be a good time!

Clothes Horse Number Nine

Clothes Horse for June 11, 2011
This is my outfit from last Saturday. I love this little striped dress so much. I got it about 15 years ago, I think, at a Salvation Army in my home state of Pennsylvania. I love pairing it with bright colored tights. I also love the stripes and the simple shape if this dress. It is like a big t-shirt.

ICE 6714
Here is a picture of me in the said outfit at the craft show. Check it out!

ICE Goodies

ICE Atlanta Loot
We brought back some new goodies from our weekend sale at ICE Atlanta. Here are the goods!

Buttons by the Sweetie Pie Press
These buttons are some of our favorites from Sweetie Pie Press! How about that alligator?

Book and Rubber Stamp by the Small Object 1
Our pal Sarah from the Small Object made this adorable rubber stamp of a mug with a face. I also love her book. I am really going to try hard and write and draw in this book, but it is so nice, crisp, and new - it will be difficult.

Bunny Pin by Kristina Dutton
Raoul did a quick shopping run and came back with this pin by Kristina Dutton. Doesn't this bunny look an awful lot like our Jumbles?

Ceramic Cuppies by Jeanette Zeis Ceramics
We got a pair of lovely sculpted cupcakes from Jeanette Zeis Ceramics! We said they are "his and hers" cos Raoul chose and I chose the other. Aren't they the sweetest?

Skinflower Soap
Our friend Mariko came to say hello to us both days of ICE. On Sunday we met her husband who makes Skinflower Soap. He did not have a table at ICE, but they did share with us these beautiful handcrafted vegan soaps. Super!

Unflattering Portrait of Tofu Baby by the Rev. Aitor 2
Rev. Aitor was commissioned to make an Unflattering Portrait of Tofu Baby. I think he did a "fabuwous" job on this artwork! Thanks so much, Aitor. This for sure needs a fwame.

Bunny Ring by Cuyler Hovey-King
Last, but not least, this is my new bunny ring by Cuyler Hovey-King. I have a small collection of her pretty jewelry. I can't say enough how much I enjoy her work. I love the mini mini things she creates!
